Juggling my work as a blogger, makeup artist and a mom, I often don't get enough sleep. But i make sure that my skin is well prep before going to bed. I believe that how you prep for bedtime can greatly impact the state of your skin when you wake up in the morning. Most of us seek methods or RITUALS to achieved an amazing - radiant looking face! I'm glad that there's a new secret to younger-looking skin that is now revealed to sleep-deprived Filipino Women!

Sleep deprivation for Filipino women is the norm for women achievers who juggle a lot of responsibilities and activities that take up most of their day. Their much-needed nighttime shut-eye – often their only real time for themselves – is often disrupted. Regular bouts of sleep deprivation eventually take their toll on their skin, fast tracking the process of skin aging and making them look years older.Filipino women now need a pre-sleep ritual that allows them to get the most out of their shut-eye.

Women need more sleep, science proves

It doesn’t come as a surprise then that women could use some extra snooze time to recoup from stress. Science backs this up further, as Jim Horne, Britain’s leading sleep expert, has found that women need 20 minutes more sleep than men.

Apart from all the activities that they take on, women’s need for extra sleep is also due to how their brains work harder during the day and are wired differently from men.

“Women tend to multi-task—they do lots at once and are flexible—and so they use more of their actual brain on a daily basis. Because of that, their sleep need is far greater than their male counterparts,” Horne said.

A separate study led by Royal Philips—a global leader in sleep and respiratory care—also revealed that “more than 8 in 10 adults globally say that a variety of activities take precedence over a good night’s sleep.” These things include family time, job responsibilities, and staying a bit longer on the Internet and other devices (such as television, laptops, and smartphones)

Less snooze equals dull, aging skin

The skin is one of the first to show the effects of sleep deprivation, being a window to what’s happening inside the body. With just a few nights devoid of sleep, the skin becomes unable to adequately repair itself, starts looking sallow, the blood vessels around the eyes dilate and cause dark circles, and puffiness under the eyes create unsightly eye bags. Pile up more sleepless nights and a myriad of other problems surface: dry, flaky skin, enlarged pores, breakouts, and dull, aged complexion.

Skin experts also caution against prolonged sleep deprivation as it leads to more irreversible effects, such as premature aging and permanent skin discoloration.

“Sleep increases melatonin—the sleep hormone—which acts like an antioxidant to fight age spots, fine lines, or in the worst-case scenario, skin cancer,” says Dr. Giselle Lazaro, a dermatologist and the owner/founder of owner/founder NU.U Asia Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery. "A good night's rest can also increase the efficiency of special growth hormones that repair and regenerate collagen-producing cells, which are responsible for skin's elasticity and tightness. A deep slumber enables the body to reverse everyday free radical damage through cellular renewal.”

Breathe, Enrich, Dream

To give women the best chance against premature aging, experts suggest following a routine that boosts the skin’s regenerative processes during sleep. The key is to use anti-aging products just before bedtime to prepare the skin for a night of rejuvenation and complement the fruits of enjoying a night of restful sleep.

This strategy has been the inspiration behind kojie.san DreamWhite's Breathe, Enrich, Dream (B.E.D.) Ritual, the pre-sleep regimen for its anti-aging skincare line. To maximize the benefits of enjoying an ideal amount of sleep, the ritual encourages Filipino women to adopt a pre-sleep skincare regimen that includes the following aspects:

·         BREATHE: Relax in a quiet and comfortable spot in the bedroom, then proceed to cleanse and let the skin breathe by washing the face with DreamWhite Anti-Aging Soap. Afterwards, rehydrate, whiten, and nourish with DreamWhite Anti-Aging Facial Toner with Collagen.

·         ENRICH: Revitalize the face and neck with the DreamWhite Anti-Aging Overnight Cream before going to bed to prepare the skin for a night of rejuvenation.

·         DREAM: Unplug from the world, turn off the lights, and tune out distractions to focus on recharging the mind and body with restful sleep.

The kojie.san DreamWhite B.E.D. Ritual doesn’t end when women wake up. Also included in the skin care line is the DreamWhite Blemish Correcting Cream, which is best used both during the day and night to reduce skin imperfections and lighten dark facial spots; and the DreamWhite Anti-Aging Cream with Sunscreen, that protects the skin against the harmful effects of sun exposure.

kojie.san’s DreamWhite line works in sync with the B.E.D. Ritual to revitalize and rejuvenate skin during sleep with the following youth regenerating and lightening active ingredients:

Hydrotensyl Complex, which has Collagen, Elastin, and Honey Extracts that accelerate cell regeneration by boosting production of collagen and elastin for softer, more flexible and more supple skin;

Milk Peptide Complex, an anti-aging active with milk-derived protein that helps prevent accelerated skin aging, for wrinkle depth reduction, firmness, smoothness and elasticity of skin;

Sodium Hyaluronate, which keeps skin moist and supple for a more youthful appearance; and

Kojic Acid, a natural ingredient with anti-oxidant properties that brightens skin complexion and lightens skin pigmentation.
